UGC: So far BA, B.Sc or B.Com graduates used to get degrees in three years. But from next year, one has to study for four years for graduation degree. Actually, the UGC has outlined a four-year undergraduate course (FYUP). It will be implemented in all universities in the coming academic session 2023-24. This means that students who will take admission in BA, BSc or BCom next year, their course will be four years. According to reports, the UGC will share the four-year degree course norms with all universities next week.
4 years course will be applicable in all universities
The change in duration of degree course will be applicable in all 45 central universities of the country. Most of the state level and private universities along with central universities are also going to conduct four year undergraduate courses. According to reports, many deemed universities in the country are also ready to accept it.
What about students enrolled in three-year degree courses?
Students admitted to one-year degree course will also be given the facility to take four-year course. According to UGC Chairman M Jagdesh Kumar, the complete scheme of the 4-year undergraduate course will be made public soon.
