New Delhi. Clean Schools Award: 39 schools across the country were honored with the Clean Schools Award for the academic year 2021-22. The Ministry of Education announced this on Saturday. These schools have been selected for this award out of 8.23 lakh entries which include 28 government and 11 private schools. Government schools include two Kasturba Balika Vidyalayas, one Navodaya Vidyalaya and three Kendriya Vidyalayas.
On this occasion, Union Minister of State for Education Dr. Subhash Sarkar said that to promote cleanliness in schools, the government has included grants in the cleanliness action plan of schools, so that cleanliness and hygiene can be maintained as per school enrollment. Comprehensive punishment scheme can be arranged. He said that under the Swachh Vidyalaya Award initiative, emphasis has been placed on promoting safe and proper hygiene practices among children in schools. The Minister appealed to the people to promote cleanliness and hygienic behavior at all places.
Evaluation is done on these 6 criteria
Under the Swachh Vidyalaya Awards, schools are evaluated on six factors: water, sanitation, handwashing with soap, behavior change, capacity building and preparedness and response to Covid-19.

There will be a cash prize
According to the ministry, out of the 39 awarded schools, 17 are at the primary education level and 22 are at the secondary/senior secondary level. Under this, 34 schools in the entire category were given a cash prize of Rs.60,000 and other schools in the sub-category were given a cash prize of Rs.20,000. Out of 9.59 lakh schools, 8.23 lakh schools had sent entries for the third edition of the Swachh Vidyalaya Award.
