IAS Success Story: Today’s story is about Maniram Sharma, who cleared the UPSC exam in 2009 and became an IAS officer. Maniram hails from Bandangarhi village in Alwar district of Rajasthan. Maniram’s mother was blind and dependent on hearing herself, she was deaf. His father was a labourer. There was no school in Maniram’s village, he used to walk 5 kilometers every day to go to school.
After Maniram passed 10th standard, his father took him to someone to ask for a job. He said he is 10th pass, give him constable job. So he was told ‘not listening’. They will neither hear the bell nor anyone’s voice. How can he become a soldier?’
Maniram assured his father that one day he would prove himself as a great officer.
Passed Clerk’s Examination in State
After that he did his further education from Alwar College, sent tuition to his children and managed his expenses from that. Clerk’s exam passed first in the state. Received PhD scholarship. After that decided to become IAS.

Maniram cleared the UPSC exam in 2005. He could not get a job because of his deafness. Passed the exam again in 2006, then got a job in the post and telegraph department. Then he will hear after the ear operation. He cleared the UPSC exam in 2009 and became IAS again.
