New Delhi: Now the degree from all the educational institutions of the country will be of four years instead of three. The four-year degree scheme has been prepared by the University Grants Commission. The University Grants Commission is now going to send degree charts from all the universities of the country next week.
It will include 45 central universities. In the academic session 2023-24, freshers of all universities will now be able to take admission in undergraduate courses (BA, B.Com and B.Sc).
The University Grants Commission is considering implementing this rule from next year. Although UGC has made this new rule, but students will also have the option of three years degree.
Students who have enrolled for this year’s academic year may include these in their degree application for the next academic year as well.
Students who have taken admission in the first year from the university. Students who are in first or second year will also have the option of this new course.
Although the University Grants Commission has reduced the degree to four years, but in this four-year degree, different universities will be given the freedom to make rules according to their own procedure.
Necessary rules are also likely to be made regarding the Academic Council and Executive Council of the university. Students in their final year of graduation are likely to have a four year degree course.
For students who have completed a four-year degree course, 55 per cent marks is required for admission to postgraduate and MPhil. Therefore, according to the new rules of the University Grants Commission, this tenure of MPhil cannot be continued for a long time.
