New Delhi. JEE Mains 2023: A total of 8.6 lakh candidates have registered for the January session of JEE Mains 2023. This is 6 thousand less than JEE July Session 2022. More than 6 lakh mail subscribers account for nearly 70 percent of those registered this year. At the same time, 2.6 lakh women have registered for the first time, more than 30 per cent.
Category wise, the percentage of general candidates has come down from 41.8 last year to 38.3 this year. On the other hand, the percentage of candidates from OBC category increased from 35.7 to 37.1 and the percentage of candidates from General-Economically Weaker Section (GEN-EWS) category increased from 9 to 11.6.

Maharashtra has the highest number of registrations
Talking about state-wise registration, it stands at the first position with 1,03,039 registrations. This is about 12 percent of the total enrollment. This is followed by Uttar Pradesh with 99,714 (11.6%) registrations and Andhra Pradesh with 91,799 (10.6%) registrations in the second and third positions. Telangana (86,840) and Rajasthan (59,641) are at the fourth and fifth positions.
Delhi is number one in the list of cities
Among cities, Delhi tops the list of highest enrollments. This time there are 36,530 candidates from Delhi. This is followed by Hyderabad/Secunderabad (32,246) and Kota (24,253) at third.

The exam will start from tomorrow
Entrance exams for admission to engineering, architecture and planning undergraduate courses in centrally-aided institutions like NITs and IIITs, as well as the JEE (Advanced) qualifying exam for admission to IITs, will begin in 13 languages from Tuesday. According to NTA, the exam will be conducted in 290 cities across the country and 18 cities outside India. The second session of JEE (Main) will be held from 6 to 12 April 2023.
