JEE Exam: These students will be placed under the category of foreign nationals, directly admitted to IITs through JEE Advanced.

New Delhi (JEE Exam, IIT Admission), these days lakhs of students are appearing for JEE Main Exam (JEE Main 2023). Successful candidates will take the JEE Advanced 2023 exam (JEE Advanced 2023). After that the students who appear in the cut off list in both these exams will get admission in IITs. However, different rules have been made for students placed in the category of foreign students.

While lakhs of students are appearing for the JEE Main (JEE Main 2023) exam, there is also a section of students who have to directly appear for the JEE Advanced exam. This year JEE exam is being conducted by IIT Guwahati. Details related to OCI and PIO students admission are shared in IIT Guwahati information booklet.

1- Which students don’t need to give JEE Main exam?
Overseas Citizen of India (OCI Card) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO Card) students are not required to appear for the JEE Main exam for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

2- In which class are these students?
In the 2022 admission cycle, OCI and PCI card holders have been placed in the category of foreign students.

3- What are the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced exam for foreign nationals?
Foreign national candidates registering for JEE Advanced Exam 2023 should have studied at 10+2 level or its equivalent in India or abroad.

4- Who are foreign nationals?
The IIT Guwahati admission booklet has clarified that students who are not citizens of India or possess OCI/PIO cards will be treated as foreign nationals.

5- Will reservation be given to OCI and PIO card holders?
OCI and PIO students will be admitted to IITs on 10% of the seats reserved for foreign nationals (IIT reservation seats). These students will not get any other reservation during admission.
